Washington, DC and Colonial Williamsburg
From our gleaming marble capital to the Historic
Triangle of Virginia, where the nation first began, your students will
gain a deeper understanding of our country’s development.
In Colonial Williamsburg, students can see “colonists” living as they did on the eve
of the American Revolution. The archeological digs at Jamestown, site of
the earliest settlement on this continent, and the Victory Center at
Yorktown, site of the decisive battle of the Revolution complete a view
of colonial America.
Combine this stroll through history with a visit to
Washington, D.C., political center of the most powerful nation on earth.
The treasures of the city’s museums – from the Declaration of
Independence to the Hope Diamond to Lindbergh’s airplane “The Spirit of
St. Louis” - provide information and inspiration for everyone. Continue
with a visit to the halls of power on Capitol Hill, and finish up with a
walking tour of the Lincoln, Jefferson, FDR, Vietnam,
Korean War, and
WWII memorials. Students will return home with a renewed appreciation of
the sacrifices and wisdom of our colonial ancestors and for the
greatness of our country today.
